Ahmet Vefik Pasha was born in 1823 in Istanbul and died in 1891. After finishing his education in an enlightened environment, the artist traveled to Paris with his father, Tercüman Ruhiddin Efendi, to further his education. Ahmet Vefik Pasha served as the governor of Bursa, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Grand Vizier. The artist was fluent in several languages, including Turkish, Persian, Arabic, French, English, Latin, and Greek. He was one of the Tanzimat Period’s first representatives of nationalist studies.
